Below are examples of lessons that I taught in special education settings.
How To Summarize
I taught this lesson to seventh grade at-risk students and students who have Learning Disabilities. The purpose of this lesson was to teach the students how to effectively summarize anything but specifically for this lesson, articles. In my reflection, at the end of the lesson plan, I explain how I would use the data from my students' work to drive my next lesson. Below are links to my lesson plan, graded rubrics, and student work.
After teaching the above students how to summarize I was looking at their paragraphs and I realized that most of their content was great but that the students had poor sentence structure. From that, I decided to teach a lesson on simple and compound sentences. Below are links to my lesson plan, graded rubrics, and student work.
